Maria Victoria Fazio holds a Masters degree in Economics from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP) in Argentina. Her main areas of analysis have focused on Income Distribution Economics, Education, Youth Labor and Incidence Analysis of Social Policies using applied microeconometric techniques. Before joining the Bank, she worked as a researcher at CEDLAS (Centro de Estudios Distributivos Laborales y Sociales) mainly on World Bank projects. She has also had teaching assignments in the Department of Economics, Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Her country experience includes Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico and Paraguay.

Maria Victoria began working for the Poverty and Gender team in 2005. Since then she has worked on poverty and inequality projects, income redistribution, pro-poor growth and economic opportunities for indigenous peoples.
