Monica Peñuela holds a B.A in Political Science from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia and a Master in International Relations from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. She worked for the Government of Colombia both at the Ministry of the Interior and the Office of the President. She joined the World Bank in 2002 working with the Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) Civil Society Team and currently she works with the LAC Poverty and Gender Group in the MECOVI Program.
