In the Latin America and Caribbean region several countries have produced National Strategies for Development of Statistics (NSDS). The NSDS seek to identify the needs for capacity strengthening and to facilitate coordination mechanisms among statistical producers and users within the National Statistical Systems in order to improve and promote the production, harmonizartion and use of statistical information. Counting on reliable and timely data is fundamental for the design and implementation of evidence based public policies for poverty reduction.
