Sociologist, PhD © Political Sociology, with experience in applied research, policy analysis, and policy evaluation through both quantitative and qualitative methods. Ana Maria has worked on action plans and strategy design, implementation and monitoring, including a lot of work on indicators. She has experience in participatory evaluations and civil society engagement. Her main areas of focus are: gender equality and gender mainstreaming; civil society, citizenship and democracy; power and public spaces; and poverty and inequality. Before joining the Bank she worked for two years as a consultant for the Gender Equality Unit at the Inter-American Development Bank.  She has also worked for the Organization of American States, UNDP and UNFPA, the Latin American Faculty of Social Science, as well as for civil society, government and academic organizations in Latin America (mostly Chile).
