Facundo Cuevas is an economist specialized in development and poverty issues. He joined the Poverty and Gender group of the Bank in September 2007. Currently, he is working on poverty determinants, crime and violence in Guatemala, and on unemployment and labor markets in Guyana.

Before joining the Bank, Facundo attended graduate school at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he obtained a Masters degree in Economics in 2004, and will receive a Ph.D. degree in 2007. He completed his B.A. (summa cum laude) at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina, in 2001. Since then, he has done work in areas such as victimization and mental health in Mexico, poverty and community participation in Indonesia, and rural education in Argentina. He has also lived in India, working at the Centre for Development Communication NGO on waste management and its socio-economic impacts.
