Building Equality and Opportunity through Social Guarantees – New Approaches to Public Policy and the Realization of Rights (2009)
New book showcases an innovative approach to social policy that could transform the capacity of states to implement policies to enhance equality of opportunity among citizens.
Indigenous Peoples, Poverty and Human Development in Latin America: 1994-2004 By Gillette Hall and Harry Anthony Patrinos The purpose of the report is to examine whether the Indigenous Peoples’ decade (1994-2004) was also accompanied by material and human development gains for Indigenous Peoples. This report updates findings from a 1994 book that established a baseline of conditions among Indigenous Peoples in Latin America for the early 1990s. The current study considers how conditions have evolved since then in the five Latin American countries with the largest indigenous populations, which include Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru. Lessons of Indigenous Development in Latin America The Proceedings of a World Bank Workshop on Indigenous People Development September 2004 Edited by: Shelton H. Davis, Jorge E. Uquillas, Melanie A. Eltz  At the closing of the United Nation's Decade of Indigenous People, the World Bank is proud to present this volume on the "Lessons of Indigenous Development in Latin America," based on the experiences of different projects and programs targeting indigenous peoples. We hope that the results presented in this volume will help the World Bank and other international cooperation agencies improve the design and implementation of projects involving indigenous peoples around the world.
