Damage Assessments and Emergency Projects

Natural events are inevitable and disasters happen in developing countries affecting in the majority the poor. After the events, the Bank has been supporting countries with experts to assess the damage and identify the needs in order to start planning for reconstruction activities and donor coordination meetings. In various cases the Bank has been requested to prepare Emergency Recovery Loans to assist countries in their reconstruction efforts.  The latest ERL was the Hurricane Ivan Emergency recovery loan. The Bank also participated in the El Salvador and Guatemala Damage Assessment (191kb pdf) as part of the UN team.  |
