WASHINGTON, June 17, 2008- The following projects were approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors: IDA Credit: US$48.6 Million TERMS: Maturity = 20 Years; Grace Period = 10 Years PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The PMRC II aims to improve the quality of road network and of road management in support of the government’s growth and competitiveness goals through: (i) improved governance and enhanced road management capacity in the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing and in the Road Fund; (ii) improvements on selected road corridors; and (iii) extension of maintenance on the unpaved road network. In all three areas, the project will build on the progress that was achieved through PRMC I (the component on mitigation of the impact of Hurricane Mitch will not be repeated in PRMC II).
