Honduras - Rural Competitiveness Project

WASHINGTON, June 17, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA Credit: US$30.0 million equivalent

TERMS: Maturity = 20 Years; Grace Period = 10 Years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:   The Rural Competitiveness Project will (a) support pre-investment activities to create and consolidate productive alliances among rural producer organizations (RPOs) and commercial partners; (b) provide subproject grants to co-finance the implementation of approximately 150 feasible business plans; and (c) support incremental costs associated with project administration and monitoring and evaluation, including the set-up and implementation of a participatory monitoring and evaluation system.   The development objective of the project is to contribute to increased productivity and competitiveness among organized rural small-scale producers through their participation in productive alliances.
