The international community recognizes that matters pertaining to budgets are crucial to achieving the goals set out by public policies, such as accomplishing the Millennium Development Goals, which aim to significantly reduce the number of people that live in poverty, among other objectives.

Healthy public financing is an important requisite for the smooth running of a fiscally sound government that promotes the efficient assignation of resources in order to guarantee that services reach the population proficiently, in a transparent and accountable way.

Throughout the Performance Budgeting International Conference, Mexican authorities, experts from international organizations, as well as national and international academics will:

  • Create a platform for exchanging ideas on practical aspects, like planning, supervising and implementing Performance Budgeting.
  • Discuss the role information plays in carrying out the process of assigning budgets, and in the public sector as a whole.
  • Explore economic policies issues behind the implementation of Performance Budgeting.

This conference will prove of particular interest to those involved in implementing Performance Budgeting, such as government employees, contributors, academics and members of the media. See official invitation.
