Nicaragua: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Project

WASHINGTON, June 12, 2008- The following projects was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors

 

IDA Credit: US$ 20 Million

TERMS: Maturity = 40 Years; Grace Period =10 Years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Project for Nicaragua aims to improve the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises and the business climate that affects those firms. There are four components to the project. The first component is business and investment climate improvement. The second component is matching grants for MSMEs. The third component is increased access to financial services for MSMEs. Finally, the fourth component is the institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Economy (MIFIC). National MSME surveys will be undertaken to better inform public policy discussions.
