How many active projects does the Bank carry out in Uruguay? Are there any scholarships and employment opportunities? What kind of information does the Bank generate? Who can have access to it?

To promote access to information and discussion of development-related ideas, the World Bank created centers in many countries for development information and knowledge sharing. Uruguay launched its Public Information Center (PIC) on April 2006.

 

The PIC's objective is to promote an understanding of the World Bank’s operations and to share knowledge through the use of and easy access to Bank information such as research information. Much of the information is available through hard-copy collections and some documents are available free of charge online on the World Development Sources website.

 

The PIC is an opportunity to work closely with students, researchers, librarians, NGOs, and others who are interested in development. From the PIC we respond to public inquiries, listen to concerns of visitors, arrange seminars, dialogues, webcasts and radio programs that address development topics, among other things.

The Public Information Center's services include access to:

• Development-related publications by international institutions, governments, and NGOs.

Mobile PIC:

 

With a transportable library, the Public Information Center can participate in activities, workshops, and events outside the office, making information available for everybody.
