Bahrain

Bahrain joined the World Bank in 1972. The World Bank program in Bahrain has been quite substantial over the years and covered a wide array of activities in support of the Ministry of Finance (MoF, previously known as MoFNE) and the Bahrain Central Bank (previously known as Bahrain Monetary Agency). These activities included the fiscal management restructuring project, public awareness campaign, privatization of public transport, debt markets development, stock exchange strategy, and insurance supervision project.

Currently, the program in Bahrain includes support to the Ministry of Social Development and Ministry of Finance, and carries activities such as pension system analysis, privatization support, and alternative energy review and analysis. The Bank continues a dialogue with the Economic Development Board on developing a comprehensive program of technical assistance in strategic areas.
