In line with the post-conflict reconstruction development program, Iraq requires capacity building in the area of gender mainstreaming in development projects and in economic analysis and policy. Â This capacity building initiative was designed to help meet the need for improving capacity in gender and statistics, gender monitoring and evaluation and gender-responsive economic policy, through training, networking, and knowledge-sharing among gender focal points in ministries, NGOs, experts, and Bank staff, mainly from Iraq, but also from Jordan and West Bank and Gaza. The training was multi-sectoral and designed to enhance and compliment current Bank projects, as well as projects that are in the pipeline for 2005/2006.
