Economic Integration in the Middle East and North Africa
The Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) has been able to make some inroads, albeit at different degrees in each of the geographical groupings to support the integration of the Arab world into the global economy. As part of a growing momentum on the part of MENA countries and the World Bank Group to promote more cooperation within the region, the Office of the Chief Economist, MENA Region, has prepared a series of reports to take stock of the regional cooperative frameworks, their issues and prospects. These reports examine economic integration among three sub-regions: the Gulf countries, the Maghreb and the Mashreq, and assess the particular challenges and opportunities in each.
