World Bank Office-Dhaka Requests Applications from Civil Society Organizations for the Small Grants Program 2006

Dhaka, November 29, 2005: The World Bank Office, Dhaka, is inviting civil society organizations to submit their applications for the Small Grants Program (SmGP) 2006. The Program’s objective is to support registered nonprofit civil society organizations in their activities aimed at promoting dialogue and dissemination of information and enhancing partnerships with key players in support of the development process. Organizations that are currently registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau are eligible for this fund. This year’s program will support activities on Voice of the Youth in the Development Process. The applicants can submit proposals in either Bangla or English. The grant amount will be in the range of US$2,000 to US$5,000, and the applicant must indicate a matching amount for completing activity within one year. Small Grants will not support research programs, formal academic training programs, operational projects, ongoing institutional core support, scholarships, fellowships, study programs, or individuals applying on their own behalf, including for travel or studies.

The deadline for submission of applications is January 31, 2006, and awards will be announced by May 15, 2006.
