Bhutan: Education Development Project (Additional Financing)

 

WASHINGTON, May 13, 2008- The following projects were approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA Grant: US$ 1.6 million

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The additional financing will support the original project’s objectives that were to support Bhutan's five-year education development program to expand access to primary and secondary education, and improve educational quality at all levels. The project will help to finance costs associated with a financing gap for the construction of two additional schools, to bring the total number of schools under the project to 28, approximately the same as the project’s original target of 29.
