World Bank to Support Bhutan Prevent HIV/AIDS, June 17, 2004: The World Bank has approved a US$5.8 million grant to help Bhutan curb the spread of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The HIV/AIDS and STI Prevention and Control Project  aims to maintain Bhutan’s low level HIV/AIDS epidemic status, by increasing safer sex behaviors, such as condom use, and improving management and treatment of STIs among highly vulnerable populations and the general public.
