Samurdhi welfare program reform

Since 2002, the World Bank has provided the government with technical assistance to improve the targeting and poverty impact of the Samurdhi program.   It covers how to re-orient the selection of beneficiaries of the program from the current subjective criteria to a more objective formula-based system, and how to create institutional capacity to support the changes in the selection process.
