Sri Lanka: Public Sector Capacity Building

WASHINGTON, June 5, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA Credit: US$22.6 Million

TERMS: Maturity = 20  Years; Grace Period =  10 Years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project aims to strengthen and modernize the public sector and build technical capacity to improve public administration and public financial management. The credit will support the growth and equity pillars of the Country Assistance Strategy. It will also support Sri Lanka’s evolving poverty reduction strategy, which includes the growth, governance, improved service delivery, and social inclusion objectives. The project aims to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of two key public sector agencies (DCS and AGD) through an investment package that includes organizational strengthening, capacity building, information management, communication improvements, physical and information technology infrastructure, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support.
