Socio Economic Impact Monitoring-Second Annual Report

Socio Economic Impact Monitoring – Bhutan Rural Access Project – 2nd Annual Report 2004

The Kingdom of Bhutan has among the most rugged and mountainous terrains in the world.  A major portion of the land is covered by forests and has very steep terrain, thereby limiting the scope for any agricultural or other activities.  Lack of well-developed transportation network in Bhutan is another constraint in the development of the rural areas.  The main purpose of this annual report of the Bhutan Rural Access project is to assess the impact of the project to rural communities of the project area.  This report attempts to measure the impact of the project in terms of its contribution to reduce poverty, provide access to welfare services and improve the livelihood of the poorer sections in the remote areas of the country. Sociol Economic Impact Report 2004 (PDF 2.08 MB)
