The World Bank's External Affairs Europe offices are responsible for the World Bank's daily dialogue with eighteen Western European countries, including the Netherlands.
The Netherlands and the World Bank work together with other member governments to finance projects, design policies and deliver programs to combat poverty in the developing world and also undertake a number of activities with parliamentarians, journalists, the private sector, academics and civil society in the Netherlands.
A key objective of the Netherlands' Country Desk is to build support for the institution and development, by promoting a better understanding of the World Bank Group's mission and activities. The Netherlands' Country Desk also seeks to increase opportunities for collaboration between the Netherlands and the World Bank Group through co-financing, Trust Funds, joint analytical work in sectors and regions of mutual interest
Key activities coordinated by the Netherlands' Country Desk include:
- Contributions to seminars and conferences on development issues;
- Interfacing with media and general public, by addressing questions and providing guidance on World Bank Group mission and activities
- Disseminating knowledge in geographic areas and sectors of interest to the Netherlands.
