The Hague - Doing Business presentation

Neil Gregory, Chief Strategy Officer, IFC, presented the World Bank Group's ninth annual Doing Business report entitled "Doing Business in a More Transparent World" to government and private sector representatives in the Hague November 17th. The Doing Business Report assesses regulations affecting domestic firms in 183 economies and ranks the economies in 10 areas of business regulation, such as starting a business, resolving insolvency and trading across borders. Mr. Gregory presented the main findings of the 2012 report which this year for the first time includes indicators on getting electricity. He highlighted the substantial increase in the number of regulatory reforms undertaken over the last year with 125 economies out of the 183 measured having implemented a total of 245 business regulatory reforms—13 percent more reforms than in the previous year. Mr. Gregory also presented the specific results for the Netherlands and discussed ways in which Dutch counterparts could further benefit from the report through participating in peer learning events.
