Geneva - Presentation of the World Bank Group Trade Strategy

On June 16th, The World Bank Geneva Office organized an event on the newly released World Bank Group Trade Strategy, 2011-2021. Bernard Hoekman, Director of the International Trade Department at the World Bank, presented the strategy and outlined it's four main pillars:

1. Trade competitiveness and diversification;
2. Trade facilitation, transport logistics and trade finance;
3. Support for market access and international trade cooperation; and
4. Managing external shocks and promoting greater inclusion.

The presentation was hosted by WTO Deputy Director General Harsha Singh, and comments were provided by ICTSD Chief Executive Ricardo Meléndez-Ortiz. The event was attended by 150 members of the international community, and the presentation was followed by a lively discussion with participants.
