Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building

The Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building (TFSCB) has been established to strengthen the capacity of statistical systems in developing countries. It is a multi-donor fund, administered by the World Bank, which provides grants at national, regional and global levels. Projects support improvements in the collection, processing, analysis, storage, dissemination and use of timely, good quality statistics to support poverty reduction and economic and social development. Although all developing countries are eligible to apply to the fund, the primary target countries for assistance from the trust fund are those that are either currently involved in the PRSP process or are expected to be so.

Oversight of the TFSCB is provided by a Consultative Group of donors which meets once a year; technical advice of the operation of the Fund is provided by an Advisory Panel. The TFSCB also prepares progress reports twice a year, and in 2003 an independent evaluation.
