 World Development Indicators (WDI) publication is the World Bank's premier annual compilation of data about development. The 2008 WDI includes more than 800 indicators in over 80 tables organized in 6 sections: World View, People, Environment, Economy, States and Markets, and Global Links.  How to Order

 

Data are shown for 153 economies with populations of more than 1 million in selected tables. Table 1.6 presents selected indicators for 56 other economies—small economies with populations between 30,000 and 1 million and smaller economies if they are members of the World Bank. Front matter, introductions to each section, and back matter of WDI 2008 are available at the following links:

Poverty data: A supplement to World Development Indicators 2008

This booklet provides the country-level estimates of poverty that were first released in October 2008. Using the international poverty line of $1.25 a day, estimates of the extent and depth of poverty are presented for 115 developing countries, along with poverty measurements based on their national poverty lines. The report includes explanatory text and tables on national poverty estimates, international poverty estimates, and purchasing power parities (PPPs). To see the entire report, click here.
