Merchandise exports are valued free on board (f.o.b.) at the customs frontier of the exporting country. The f.o.b. value includes the value of the goods, and the value of outside packaging, and related distributive services used up to, and including, loading the goods onto the carrier at the customs frontier of the exporting country.

Services comprises shipment, passenger and other transport services, and travel, as well as current account transactions not separately reported (e.g., not classified as merchandise, non-factor services, or transfers). These include transactions with nonresidents by government agencies and their personnel abroad, and also transactions by private residents with foreign governments and government personnel stationed in the reporting country.

(Factor income)
Income receipts (Factor-) cover income receivable from the rest of the world.
It includes: (i) compensation of employees paid to resident workers from abroad, and (ii) investment income receipts on external financial assets, including those on direct investment, portfolio investment, other investment, and reserve assets. The most common types of investment income are income on equity (dividends) and debt (interest).

These include changes in holdings of monetary gold, SDRs, reserve position in the IMF, foreign exchange assets, and other claims on nonresidents that are available to the central authority. Also included are counterpart items, which are changes attributable to reserve creation, that is, the monetization and/or demonetization of gold, the allocation and/or cancellation of SDRs, and the changes in the value of holdings resulting from fluctuations in prices. Included is also liabilities constituting foreign authorities' reserves which is reported separately in IMF sources. This last item is liabilities which constitute reserves when seen from the side of the creditor, even though the compiling country itself (the debtor) may not regard some or any of them as a supplementary means of financing its payments balance or as an offset to its own reserves.
