Codes, descriptions and definitions of government finance statistics in the Live Database (LDB)

Note: Coverage of the aggregates in the LDB is central government.

GB.XPD.INLD.CNExpenditures and Net LendingThis item shows the sum of expenditure and lending minus repayments for policy purposes.
Expenditure includes all non-repayable and non-repaying payments by government, whether for current or capital purposes.
Lending minus repayments covers government payments giving rise to financial claims upon others or to government equity participation in the ownership of enterprises, minus government receipts reducing or extinguishing such claims or equity holdings, undertaken for public policy purposes rather than for the management of government liquidity or the earning of a return.
Note; lending minus repayments for liquidity management is included in financing.

Taxes on goods and services include general sales and turnover or value added taxes, selected excises on goods, selective taxes on services, taxes on the use of goods or property, and profits of fiscal monopolies.

Note; this definition of government consumption differs from the one used in national accounts.
