Because the PPP estimates are typical international public goods, the continued operation of the ICP depends upon the commitment and the level of financial support from the international community and the willingness of participating countries to cover the bulk of data collection costs. The 2005 Round is financed through a cost-sharing arrangement with many organizations that provide resources for different components of the program at different levels.  At the global level, an ICP Trust Fund was established to cover the running cost of the Global Office, research and development in methodology and software tools, reporting and evaluation, as well as any contingency costs for the global program as a whole.  Regional Trust Funds were created in the respective regions to finance the cost of regional coordination and management. They cover the running costs of regional offices, the costs of organizing regional workshops and training sessions, and also provide a supplementary budget for national statistical offices to offset part of data collection costs.  Participating countries finance the collection of data encompassing survey costs, technical expertise in the field, training of staff and dissemination, with supplementary funding from their respective regional offices.  Contributors to the Global Trust Fund are: World Bank International Monetary Fund United Nations Development Program Department for International Development (DFID), UK AusAid, the Australian Government's Overseas Aid Program  Contributors to Regional Trust Funds include: African Development Bank Africa Capacity Building Foundation Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development Asian Development Bank UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) World Bank Department for International Development (DFID), UK Canadian International Development Agency AusAid, the Australian Government's Overseas Aid Program  |
