The International Comparison Program (ICP) in the CIS is a part of the global ICP effort. The CIS program builds on its prior experience in the ICP. Previously, the CIS comparisons were done in 1994-1996 and 2000, and before that the Soviet Union took part in the 1990 ICP exercise.
The CIS comparison covers 11 countries (all CIS countries except Uzbekistan), with Russia also involved in the OECD comparison. The regional program is coordinated by ROSSTAT (Russian Statistical Office) and CISSTAT (CIS Statistical Office) in Moscow, Russia.
The regional program benefits from similarities in the countries' statistical systems as well as various harmonization efforts in statistics carried out by the CISSTAT. The comparison also benefits from the closeness of the markets in the countries.
