At the request of IDA Deputies, Executive Directors discussed a Progress Report on Statistical Capacity Improvement in IDA Countries on May 16, 2006. This report highlights areas of improvement since 2002, reports on progress made with implementing MAPS, and identifies areas where there are constraints. The report proposes several new initiatives, including a plan to accelerate improvements of statistics in Sub-Saharan Africa, and a Bulletin Board system for monitoring progress more carefully.
