Labor

“The project helped many data compilers and analysts to change their attitude towards data gathering, analysis, and dissemination. We now better understand the theoretical and practical requirements in the subject area.” Closing workshop participant

The objective of the Labor Statistics Module is to assist in improving the coverage and quality of different aspects of Statistics on Labor, e.g. paid and unpaid, hidden and informal labor activities.

Non-market activities and the informal sector are of utmost importance to Africa.  The most effective means of collecting data on non-market activities and the informal sector is a labor force survey.

Six countries have chosen Labor Statistics as subject for advice. Each of them identified its own priorities and developed a work program for data improvements that will be implemented throughout the life of the module.
