“The most important to me was the assistance for my country in setting up a central data storage system that would encourage and boost timely reporting and the overall quality of our statistics in health.” Closing workshop participant The objective of the Health Statistics Module is to improve the coverage and quality of statistics on health outcomes, and on the delivery and use of health services. In many African countries the Health data management, its dissemination and use need some improvement. Therefore, special attention is directed to the development of a fully functional and operational Health Data warehouse as a requirement for capturing, storing and retrieving relevant Health data. Furthermore advice has been requested for developing the Strategic Framework for Health Statistics and strengthening the Health Information System. Five countries have chosen the Health Module as topic for advice. Their priorities are displayed in the table. For a list of publications please click here: Publications To get an overview of the participants' evaluation of this module please click here: Evaluation Main outcomes: The existing Health Information System in Mauritius has been reviewed and a strategy for implementing improvements in order to create a new system was introduced. In Lesotho an IT system for the data warehousing of Health Statistics was developed. This system has been set up and tested and is now ready to be used. Sudan has also been advised in the development of a data warehouse system. They plan to copy the design for Lesotho, with their own resources.
