2.2  Administrative history
   The Office of External Affairs is responsible for managing the communications for the World Bank.  This includes maintaining public relations with shareholding countries, as well as with the community, news media and the United Nations; raising public awareness of the Bank’s efforts in reducing poverty; arranging speaking engagements for representatives of the Bank; ensuring the consistency of communication from Bank departments and offices; and the publication of reports, educational resources, newsletters, and promotional materials in textual and audio-visual formats.

3.1  Scope and content   Fonds consists of records relating to various functions of the Office of External Affairs (EXT).  Public relations files are comprised of press releases, reports, and articles for newspapers, magazines and journals, while the publication function is revealed through records such as educational materials, book manuscripts, annual meeting reports, magazines and newsletters.  Files from the Office of the Director of EXT are within this fonds as well as the administrative, chronological, and budget records from various External Relations offices.  Speeches written by EXT staff as well as copies of speeches and interviews given by World Bank presidents have been kept in addition to audio recordings of World Bank staff speeches and annual meetings.  Files kept by EXT staff on the Pearson Commission and Brandt Commission findings  are also in this fonds, as well as records created through External Relations’ function as Liaison with the United Nations and Non-Government Organizations.  EXT has also been responsible for producing a radio program as represented by audio recordings; creating promotional film and videos; and taking photographs of various World Bank people, places and events such as office buildings, country memberships, project sites, credit signings, annual meetings, senior staff, executive directors and presidents.

3.3  Accruals   Accruals are expected.
