Health: Supporting Systemic Change in a New Global Context

IDA at Work: Health

Drawing upon the extra resources made available to the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank has doubled its commitment to health programs from US$500 in 2008 to US$1.2 billion in 2009/2010.

Despite increased availability of funding for priority disease areas, boosting funds for the strengthening of health systems remains a critical challenge to delivering improved outcomes, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable.
