Sustained growth in low-income countries hinges on the ability to foster a thriving private sector that provides good jobs and incomes.

IDA has focused most of its private sector development work on encouraging governments to provide a solid institutional foundation and clear rules of the game for entrepreneurial activity. It also supports job creation through microfinance initiatives around the world, and works in partnership with IFC and MIGA to fund critical projects.
