The Projects Database

The Projects database provides access to basic information on all of the World Bank's lending projects from 1947 to the present, including Guarantees, GEF Full-Sized, GEF Medium-Sized, Montreal Protocol, Carbon Offsets, Debt Service Facility, Guarantees, Rainforest, Special Financing, Investment and Adjustment Loans/Credits. It also provides links to publicly disclosed online documents.

The database does not include projects of the International Finance Corporation (see IFC Projects or the analytical and advisory work of the World Bank). Data for older projects may be incomplete, as the systems for capturing information have been refined and improved over time.

Contract Awards

Procurement under World Bank-financed projects results in the award of approximately 20-30,000 contracts (total value of about $20 billion); about 10,000 are subject to prior review (total value of about $10 billion). The list below are the major contracts that were reviewed and agreed to by Bank staff before they were awarded; i.e., "prior reviewed" contracts. Major contracts financed under investment lending are subject to this prior review. The thresholds for prior review vary from loan to loan and from country to country and are specified in the procurement schedule of the Legal Agreement. Contracts not subject to prior review by the Bank and contracts that were signed before 7/1/2000 are not included in this database. The name of contractor, supplier, or consultant shown is the name of the entity who submitted the winning bid or proposal. The name of manufacturer, Joint Venture partners, sub-contractor, and/or sub-consultants may not appear in this database.
