The Carbon Funds are managed by the Carbon Finance Unit (CFU) at the World Bank. CFU utilizes funds provided by private participants and sovereign governments in OECD countries to purchase project-based certified emission reductions (CERs) in developing countries. Through this type of initiative, CFU encourages projects with lower carbon emissions and contributes to the Bank's mission to reduce poverty through its environment and energy strategies
CFPMI manages the donor contribution management, including the receipt of funds, the sound investment of its resources and provides standard updates and reports. CFPMI provides the capacity building to CFU on the process re-engineering.
