With some 60,000 projects being managed at any given time by more than 1,000 donor missions around the world, administrative challenges can divert energy and talent away from the primary objective of assisting poor people. Development assistance agencies have recognized the need to harmonize their operational policies, procedures and practices, ane are working with low- and middle-income countries to design programs to better align their support around national development goals and strategies.
