The World Bank Art Program is pleased to announce “1 in 3,”a multi-disciplinary exhibition on gender-based violence. Recent figures indicate that 35 percent of women—more than 1 in 3—worldwide have experienced either intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime, across all countries, regions, religions and socioeconomic groups. This is a major public health problem and violation of women's human rights.
“1 in 3” features artists from across the globe who have contributed paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculpture to the exhibition, which will open on May 22 and end on July 18, 2014. Panel discussions and performances of two plays will also be part of the program.
