More Information on Contacting the Ethics HelpLine

The Ethics HelpLine toll-free phone number provides a safe channel of communication with the Office of Ethics & Business Conduct. It will be managed as strictly confidential information.

  • Your call will remain confidential within the Office of Ethics and Business Conduct.
  • You may remain completely anonymous, if you wish.
  • No call-tracing or recording devices are ever used.
  • Available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
  • Toll-free - it's free for you to place.
  • You may request a Communication Specialist who speaks a language in which you feel more comfortable. Depending on the language, they may need to call you for another call to be placed once the appropriate language specialist has been found.

A trained Communication Specialist who does not work directly for the World Bank, and the Office of Ethics and Business Conduct will receive the written report for follow-up. You may indicate a preferable method of contacting you by the Office of Ethics & Business Conduct.  If you decide to remain anonymous, you will be given a follow-up date to call back the Ethics HelpLine to receive a response from the Office of Ethics and Business Conduct. At the end of your call, you will be given a reference number.

All the reports are managed as strictly confidential material and with care for all parties involved. All will be reviewed, but corroborating evidence must be obtained before any disciplinary action can be taken. You will not be retaliated against or otherwise mistreated for a report made in good faith even if it turns out to be unsubstantiated.
