The World Bank Language Services team owns a vast collection of legacy translations it has been compiling throughout the years. At the current moment, Language Services is re-evaluating the contents of its terminology database, with the hope of re-launching it with new and up to date content in the near future. As a consequence, the formed database has been decommissioned and currently not available for public access until a further notice. The new terminology database will facilitate a central terminology validation and will enable the sharing of all available terminological knowledge among all stakeholders involved, thus preventing terminology for linguistic context or terms from being inconsistent, from failing to take into account local terminology or not being made available to everyone. Last but not least, the centralization of terminology data in the realm of efficient resource management would provide timely and fast access to those validated resources when needed. All this should help enhance and expand Bank-wide translation quality output, while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
