Parliamentary Field Visit to Lao

From March 5-10, 2006, the World Bank and the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank jointly organized a parliamentary field visit to Lao.

This visit provided an opportunity for the Parliamentary delegation (coming from countries around the world) to assess the Poverty Reduction Strategy Process in the country, and to look at how Lao is tackling key development challenges. The program included a visit to the major infrastructure investment project the Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric project. More information on this project is available at the link below:

The program also included discussions with government officials, local parliamentarians, the donor community, local and international civil society representatives, and the World Bank's own country team.
