Helsinki, Finland, October 21-23, 2005 - The 6th edition Annual Conference of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank, gathered some 200 parliamentarians from around the world with representatives from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other multilateral organizations, academia, civil society and the private sector. The objectives were to identify what parliamentarians can do to promote action on pressing development issues, and to help strengthen the accountability and transparency of international financial institutions.
The annual conference doubled as PNoWB’s general assembly. The Network reviewed the progress report of its activities since the last annual meeting in February 2004 and elected a new board.
Hosted by the Parliament of Finland, the conference was organized by the PNoWB, in collaboration with the World Bank, the Finnish Parliament and Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
