Brussels is home to an active and vocal community of civil society many of which undertake an advocacy of monitoring role focused on the EU institutions. Many are umbrella groups of networks representing other CSOs from across Europe.
The WBG Brussels Office engages with civil society in a number of ways. These include:
Exchange of information with NGOs, academic institutions, trade unions, foundations and migrant community organizations on the Bank’s work, objectives and challenges. Organizing dialogue with civil society representatives and the on ongoing programs and projects. This includes high-level meetings with the World Bank President's office, country or theme focused discussions with World Bank Directors, and regular meetings with representatives of the World Bank’s Board.
Formal consultations on forthcoming World Bank draft sectoral and regional strategies, we bring together a wide range of stakeholders with World Bank policy experts with the aim of gathering input and suggestions in order to strengthen the Bank's Group's policy.
The WBG official responsible for Civil Society relations in Brussels is Guggi Laryea (firstname.lastname@example.org).
