ANDREA LIVERANI is a Social Development Specialist with the World Bank. Before joining the WDR, he was with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Sustainable Development Department at the Bank, working mainly on social safeguards and on poverty and social impact analysis. He has also launched a work program on the social dimensions of climate change in the MENA region. His previous positions include policy analyst at the CGIAR Secretariat and evaluation officer with the OECD Development Cooperation Directorate. His publications have addressed the evaluation of development assistance, as well as the role of civil society and local institutions in development. He holds a PhD in Development Studies and an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Politcal Science from the University of Bologna.
