| Francisco H.G. Ferreira, co-leader of the 2006 World Development Report (WDR) on the role of equity in development, is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Development Research Group, and a regular Visiting Professor at the Economics Department of the PontifÃcia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). His research focuses on income distribution dynamics during economic development.

He recently spent three years teaching at PUC-Rio, during which period he was awarded two prizes for publications in Brazilian journals (the Haralambos Simeonides 2000 and the Adriano Romariz Duarte 2001). While in Rio, he also wrote a regular monthly column for O Valor Econômico newspaper.

He sits on the boards of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA), the Instituto de Estudos do Trabalho e da Sociedade (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and the Institute for Public Policy and Development Studies (Puebla, Mexico) He is an Associate Editor of Economia, the journal of LACEA, and holds a PhD from the London School of Economics.
