The JPO Program is a donor funded program that provides professionals from donor countries an opportunity to gain experience in an international organization. The first donor Agreement was signed in 1997 between Germany and the World Bank. Currently the donor countries are Austria, Denmark, Finland,France, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Switzerland and Kuwait.
The age eligibility is 32 years old or younger, with Masters degree and a minimum of two years' experience in related field. Fluency in English is required. Depending on the donor Agreement, JPOs are hired for two or three years, assigned in Washington, DC or a World Bank country office. JPO positions are advertised by individual donors on a yearly basis. World Bank hiring managers interview and make final selection.
