The General Services Department (GSD) of the World Bank provides a wide range of shared corporate services that are essential to the effective functioning and mission of the World Bank Group.  The units where these positions are located include Corporate Procurement; Corporate Real Estate and Facilities; Corporate Security and Business Continuity; Information Security; Printing, Graphics and Map Design; Food & Conferences, Travel, Mail & Shipping, Art, and Commuter Services; Translation and Interpretation; and Community Outreach.

A core staff of about 300, and over 1,200 outsourced personnel provide these services. Approximately 20 percent of GSD’s core staff is located in decentralized hubs and country offices to better support its overseas clients.   The scope and innovation of GSD services to the Bank and IFC have been expanding rapidly to maintain the high levels of service and to pilot innovative approaches to Bank-wide issues.
