The World Bank Inspection Panel would like to inform you about upcoming public events relating to community-led accountability and the recent work of the Inspection Panel. These events are scheduled in the context of the World Bank Annual Meetings (2008), to take advantage of gatherings of members and representatives of civil society from around the world.
The first event is a seminar on Community-led Accountability in Development Efforts - Practices and Experiences, scheduled for Thursday October 9, 2008, 4:00pm to 5:30pm. This event is sponsored by the Inspection Panel, and moderated by the Inspection Panel Chair, Werner Kiene. Speaker include:

- Peter Lallas, Executive Secretary of the Inspection Panel
- Leonardo Crippa, Indian Law Center
- Robert Chase, World Bank Lead Social Development Specialist

The second event is an open house in the offices of the Inspection on October 10, 2008, 3:00pm to 6:00pm. During this event, you will be welcomed by Panel Members and colleagues from the Panel Secretariat, you will have the opportunity to see how the Panel operates and learn about the pioneer accountability mechanism in IFIs, and you will get a chance to hear stories and anecdotes about the Panel operations and share your stories and ideas too.
